THE SALVATION ARMY EXPANDS FOOD SERVICES IN RESPONSE TO GROWING DEMAND  

 

Portland, OR (April 30, 2020) -- As demand for food continues to increase, The Salvation Army has reached out to local partners in order to serve more people during this uncertain time. Right now, The Salvation Army is prepared to serve 1,500 food boxes per week through a drive-thru service called Operation Share Hope.    

“We’re thankful for our local partners who have come alongside us to make this possible,” said Major Bob Lloyd, The Salvation Army Portland Metro Coordinator. “Our incredible partners for Operation Share Hope include, Lloyd Center, East Hill Church, Clackamas Town Center, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Franz Family Bakery, Oregon Food Bank, Oregon State Police, Sysco, Alliance Packaging, City of Happy Valley, Trailblazer Foods, Gresham Police Department, International Paper, Victory Outreach, Exceed Enterprises, and Bob’s Cold Storage."

Allie Stewart, Lloyd Center’s General Manager shared, “The Salvation Army’s rapid response and leadership in this crisis has allowed them to convene community partners, volunteers, and local businesses in an unparalleled manner. Lloyd Center is proud to be amongst this group and to provide crucial food relief for Rose City.”

The Salvation Army will begin serving Food Boxes at three regional locations as a drive-thru service, starting on Monday, May 4. This service will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until further notice. The public can visit any of the following three locations: 

  • MONDAYS at Lloyd Center located at 2201 Lloyd Center, Portland, OR 97232 between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Enter from Multnomah St. directly across from Regal Lloyd Center & IMAX.
     
  • WEDNESDAYS at East Hill Church in Gresham located at 701 N Main Ave, Gresham, OR 97030 between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
     
  • FRIDAYS at Clackamas Town Center located at 12000 SE 82nd Ave, Happy Valley, OR 97086 between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Located on the corner of Monterey Ave. & 82nd.
