Emily Burris anchors KOIN 6 News This Morning and co-hosts KOIN News AM Extra on Portland’s CW.
She joined the KOIN 6 News team as a reporter in December 2018. Shortly after, she became KOIN’s weekend evening anchor, helping launch a 10 p.m. hour-long newscast on Portland’s CW. These days, she's up before the sun helping folks all around Oregon and Southwest Washington wake up weekdays from 5 - 9 a.m.
Before moving to Portland, she worked in Fort Myers, Florida as an anchor and reporter. She spent several years in Southwest Florida covering breaking news and local stories that captivated the country like the ongoing algae crisis devastating wildlife in local waterways, the 2016 presidential election in a key swing state, and three major hurricanes to hit the Southeastern US.
Through her work at KOIN 6, she's had a chance to see firsthand the amazing work The Salvation Army Portland Metro does in the community from ringing bells at red kettles through the holiday season, to hosting summer camp for children, and supporting the community with food and critical services all year long.
When she's not working, you'll find her visiting dog parks with her pup, Samwise, skiing on Mt. Hood in the winter, or hiking and camping in the summer, exploring all the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
