THE SALVATION ARMY SERVES THOSE AFFECTED BY FLOODING IN EASTERN OREGON

Pendleton, OR (February 14, 2020) - The Salvation Army began responding to the active flooding in Eastern Oregon by providing clean-up kits to those affected on Friday, February 7. The clean-up kits are designed to clean and disinfect homes. Kits include a 5-gallon bucket, broom, mop, brush, dustpan, garbage bags, cleaning products and more.

A father and son who lost everything came to us for assistance. "They lost their car and home because the water came up so fast," said Major DeWayne Halstad. We gave them vouchers to our Thrift Store to purchase clothing and shoes. So far, we have distributed 66 vouchers for clothing and shoes.

If you or someone you know needs assistance please go to The Salvation Army Family Services Office at 150 SE Emigrant Ave. Pendleton, OR. We are open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Salvation Army will be here to help people affected by the flooding in Eastern Oregon for as long as we are needed. The best way to help those affected by the floods is to make a financial contribution. Monetary donations allow disaster responders to immediately meet the specific needs of the disaster.

The Salvation Army uses 100% of all donations designated “disaster relief” in support of disaster operations, just like this. There are a variety of ways the public can support The Salvation Army’s disaster relief efforts. Cash donations are encouraged to help ensure people are given the items that are needed the most, such as clean up kits.
