A Heart of Gold Donates to The Salvation Army

(The Dalles, OR) December 23, 2019 - The Salvation Army has struck gold in The Dalles. Two gold coins were dropped in Red Kettles in Wasco County to help The Salvation Army in The Dalles. This is a generous gift, which greatly helps The Salvation Army get closer to reaching their Red Kettle Campaign goal of $60,000 to help fund their year-round programs and services. The Salvation Army will continue bell ringing through Christmas Eve day, so there is still time to make an impact in your community.

“These gold coins make a huge difference in helping us get closer to reaching our goal. We believe it was the same person who gave both of these coins. This generous donor knows that the impact of their donation is large, and we are so very thankful.” says Captain Ray Morris, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in The Dalles who discovered the gold coins.

The funds raised in the Red Kettles stay in the communities where they are given to support those in need. Your Red Kettle donation supports Christmas family assistance, year-round assistance for low-income families and individuals, food pantry, youth programs, summer camps, character-building classes, homeless assistance, veterans’ programs, seniors assistance, and more.

About the Red Kettle Campaign
From its humble origin as a fundraiser started by a Salvation Army captain in San Francisco in 1891, the Red Kettle Campaign has grown into one of the most recognizable and important charitable campaigns in the United States. As part of the campaign, more than 25,000 Salvation Army workers and volunteers spread throughout the country to ring bells and solicit spare change donations to the iconic red kettles from holiday shoppers. Last year, money raised helped The Salvation Army provide food, clothing, toys and other assistance to 30 million Americans in need. Donate now to help our neighbors in need in the Wasco County at RedKettleTheDalles.org.
