Donation trucks to be removed

Effective August 30, 2019

THE SALVATION ARMY VALUES YOUR DONATIONS

(August 13, 2019) The Salvation Army has an opportunity to restructure our Thrift Store model to lower operation cost. As a result, we are removing our donation trucks from Fred Meyer locations in the Portland Metro area. Service at the donation truck locations will continue through August 30, 2019.

Donations will continue to be accepted at The Salvation Army Family Stores. Accepting donations at our stores will lower our operation costs, which allows us to serve more people in need.

  • 2990 SE Hogan Road, Gresham, OR 97030
  • 10174 SE 82nd St., Happy Valley, OR 97086 (This store will close on March 31, 2020. The location will remain open as a donation site until further notice.)
  • 10900 SE Oak St, Milwaukie, OR 97222
  • 642 NE Lancaster Drive NE, Salem, OR 97301
  • 11847 SW Pacific Hwy, Tigard, OR 97223

Fred Meyer has been a long standing partner with The Salvation Army and we’re thankful for the years they provided space for our donation trucks in their local parking lots.

Employees who do not find other jobs at Salvation Army programs will receive severance pay that is commensurate with their years of service, and outplacement service to help them find jobs.

The Salvation Army in the Portland Metro area continues to offer many programs to serve the public from shelters for veterans and their family members to food pantries strategically located across the Portland Metro area.
